Frequently ASked Questions

Why was Valor Academic created?

Valor Academic was founded by Veterans who spent years researching complicated questions that distracted them from their studies and jobs. Our staff struggled and wanted to share our hard earned knowledge with other veteran’s so their path through college wouldn’t be as difficult as ours.

How does the program work?

Our customers go through an intake process that allows us to provide customized services and deliver top content to guide you through all aspects of college success. We answer questions, provide video content and tutorials, host a podcast with top achieving students and admissions personnel, and guide you with tailored solutions.

Why is Valor Academic a for-profit instead of a non-profit?

Companies have to be efficient and provide top quality service or risk going out of business, this motivates us to provide you with the best service possible. We also believe that there are many deserving non-profits and charities that do amazing work for our veterans and we would like people’s donations focused on those programs that provide critical care functions.

Why do veterans have a 58% graduation rate?

Many factors account for the sub-par graduation of veterans and while emergencies or life changes account for some loss of students, our research shows improper fit/selection is the top reason veterans fail to graduate. That’s why we spend most of our time and effort on proper selection and fit to your personal situation.

What College is best for Veterans?

Most Veterans will naturally attend either the most advertised program or the program closest to home. Valor Academic strives to help our student veterans choose the College or University that provides them the best opportunity for success for their personal situation rather than just the closest or most recognized college.

How does the Yellow Ribbon Program work?

The Yellow Ribbon program is a matching program between the VA and Universities above and beyond the maximum contribution provided by the VA and is available at many colleges and universities across the country.

When is the college application deadline?

This deadline varies by institution, but traditional Fall enrollment, generally occurs in November the year prior to your attendance (Nov 2022 for Fall Semester start in 2023). For transfers a general date is approximately March 1st but check your desired institution for its specific deadline.
